Covid-19 antibodies

04 August 2020

At the moment there are two burning questions.

if i had a suspicion over a past infection do I have antibodies to the COVID-19 virus

And also if I recovered from the disease, am I protected with antibodies.

Antibody testing is done with a blood sample and is indicated in cases where it must be determined whether someone has BEEN infected in the recent past, even if they had mild or no symptoms. Three types of virus-specific antibodies produced by the human body are detected in the blood serum: IgA, IgG and IgM. IgM antibodies are the ones that provide first-line defense during viral infections. IgA antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 are used as a "first immune response" marker and indicate a recent infection. IgG antibodies are the adapted and highly specific immune response to the virus. They are very important for the development of long-term immunity.

Sanus offers two exam panels for two different groups of antibodies.

In the first the IgG + IgM antibodies are detected and

In the second the IgA + IgG + IgM antibodies.

The examination is performed by appointment only.
